The second screening of Kenyan films will be on 6th of November 2020 (Friday) at 8:00 pm (CET): “Nairobi Half Life” from 2012, directed by Tosh Gitonga.
The screening will be introduced and followed with discussion by Prof. John Mugubi (Kenyatta University)
Plot Summary
A young, aspiring actor from upcountry Kenya dreams of becoming a success in the big city, Nairobi (Capital City of Kenya). In pursuit of this and to the chagrin of his brother and parents, he makes his way to Nairobi: the city of opportunity. He accidentally ends up in the world of crime while he has just got a position at the popular Phoenix Theatre. Life in the underworld is riddled with double crossers, and Mwas is soon sucked into it as he struggles to keep his heart and intentions pure. Nairobi Half Life is an adventure that any Kenyan will relate to and any non-native will be thrilled by.
