The TPAAE project aims at elaboration and implementation of the programme in Fine Arts and Design at Pwani University in cooperation with Kenyatta University, Academy of Art in Szczecin, and University in Macerata, based on understanding of local Kenyan context, and compatible with European universities. Contemporary European art has drawn a lot from African art, which should be recognized in the art curriculum, together with the importance and inspiratory character of traditional African art to contemporary languages of art.
Pwani University is a young and dynamic institution that wants to develop education in the field of art in its curriculum, noticing that there is no university on the coast of Kenya offering such courses. Development of art supports also cultural heritage, which can be prosperous in such a touristic region as Mombasa.
