TPAAE Main Coordinator in the Embassy of Republic of Poland, at the Kenyatta University and in the National Museum in Nairobi

Between 16th and 20th of August 2021 the TPAAE Main Coordinator, Prof. Aleksandra Lukaszewicz Alcaraz spent a research trip in Nairobi.

On 16th of August Prof. Aleksandra Lukaszewicz Alcaraz was received by the Ambassador of Poland Jacek Bazanski and the Polish Consul Anna Bazanska to discuss the development of the TPAAE project, and the DUOS Festival over which the Embassy took honorary patronage, and further possible cooperation in the upcoming year. The meeting was very fruitful and facilitated contact with the National Museum in Nairobi.

Later, Prof. Aleksandra Lukaszewicz Alcaraz visited the Department of Dance and Music at Kenyatta University, attending the function, leading discussions with: the Dean of School of Creative Art, Film and Media Studies, Prof. John Mugubi; the Chair of Department of Dance and Music, PhD Duncan Wambugu; and with the Board of Department of Dance and Music. The discussions were focused on the necessity to digitize traditional Kenyan instruments and music to preserve them for future generations, and on the mobility possibilities for researchers and students.

On 19th of August, Prof. Aleksandra Lukaszewicz Alcaraz was received by the Principal Curator of National Museum in Nairobi Joyce Kinyanjui, to discuss possible areas of cooperation in the field of preservation of traditional Kenyan music, presentation of the DUOS exhibition after National Museum in Szczecin (Poland) in National Museum in Nairobi (Kenya), library research, and other topics.
The meeting was very fruitful and allowed networking for possible joint activities.
