A team of four members of teaching staff from the School of Creative Arts, Film and Media Studies, Kenyatta University in Nairobi Kenya are currently on their first secondment to the University of Macerata (UNIMC) under the “Transcultural Perspectives on Art and Art Education” (TPAAE) project realized within the European Commission funded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Research and Innovation Staff Exchange, Horizon2020 (MSCA-RISE H2020). The Team arrived in Italy on 5th October 2021 and will be in Macerata until the 3rd of December 2021. Representing Kenyatta University, the four members of staff are: (a) Prof. John Mugubi – Dean and Associate Professor, Department of Communication, Media, Film and Theatre Studies, (b) Mr. Adon Ombura – Chairman, Department of Fine Art and Design. (c) Dr. Beneah Azangalala Shapaya – Communication, Media, Film and Theatre Studies and (d) Anne Mwiti – Department of Fine Art and Design.
The Kenyatta University has interacted with members of staff and students at the host institution, the University of Macerata (UNIMC). The members of staff have been assigned classes to teach face to face and also facilitate several ongoing workshops and symposia; presenting several academic papers. One of the notable workshops includes a Drawing Workshop at G. Mameli Primary School of the Comprehensive Institute “E. Mestica” of Macerata. The Workshop was facilitated by Anne Mwiti for grade 2, 4 and 5 of the Primary School.
The Kenyatta University team has visited a number of Art galleries, Art Museums and Academies of Art and Universities teaching the Arts within the Cities of Macerata, Florence and L’Aquila.
