Festival of Art and Education “DUOS” was a platform presenting the outcomes of research and practice conducted by Academy of Art in Szczecin (AASZ) lecturers/artists in collaboration with local Kilifi County and Mombasa artists. In 2021 and 2023, Polish and Kenyan artists worked together in pairs in various disciplines (e.g., Photography, Film, Sculpture, Painting, Music, Performance), learning from each other and building a project including the wider community of local artisans, musicians, dancers, and students from Pwani University (PU), as well as from Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) for the 3rd edition. DUOS projects were continued in Szczecin, the one-month mobility of Kenyan artists in the Polish city finalized with an exhibition held in the National Museum in Szczecin NMS in 2021 and 2023.   

While preparing their projects, Duos Artists worked in various publicly accessible spaces: Giriama Paradise football field, a local elementary school, Pwani University, the streets and walls of Mnarani district, Alliance Française in Mombasa, or Water Sports Ground in Kilifi. Activities as well as the final Festival presentations were accessible to the general public for free.   

The DUOS Festival was curated by Dr hab. Zofia Wollny and Dr. Łukasz Jastrubczak (AASZ).
