Dr. Grzegorz Skorny and Prof. Aleksandra Lukaszewicz Alcaraz from Academy of Art in Szczecin paid an official visit to the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), meeting with Prof. Peter Gichangi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research and Extension) at TUM , University Librarian Dr. Wanyenda Chilimo and members of her team. Participants discussed areas of collaboration based on Memorandum of Understanding about research and international mobility of staff and students. Representatives from the academy toured TUM’s facilities, including laboratories for photography and television broadcasting.
Skorny and Lukaszewicz also visited the Swahilipot Hub, an incubator for art-based technology projects and practices that is located near the historic Fort Jesus. There. they learned about the centre’s history, vision, and mission, as well as the projects in which it is engaged. The Swahilipot Hub working closely with TUM and is supported by the National Museums of Kenya, which manages Fort Jesus, the site of a former Portuguese garrison from the city’s colonial past.
