Technical University of Mombasa, through collaboration with the Academy of Arts in Szczecin, Poland under the TPAAE project, organized a Masterclass and a workshop of the Lampart Short Film Festival that took place today at the TUM Digital Centre on the 29th of February 2024.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Magdalena Szymkow, the Head of the Experimental Film department at Academy of Arts in Szczecin, who took students through various types of documentaries, the unique shooting angles for films, and more on the filmmaking process. Mr. Rafal Zarksi, from the Department of the Experimental Film Academy of Arts in Szczecin, on the other hand, guided attendees on colour schemes and scenography in films.
The Lampart Short Film Festival aims to empower and inspire emerging filmmakers in the coast region of Kenya and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their latest work, promote their films, meet other filmmakers, and learn from industry professionals. The goal of this is to facilitate the sustainable growth of the film industry for jobs and wealth creation.
The event was attended by around 50 TUM students and other independent filmmakers who had the opportunity to interact one-on-one with the facilitators and receive feedback on their work.
